E&M Reviews
Physician Office Coding Reviews and E & M
Evaluation and Management (E & M) Reviews and Operational Assessments are critical in today's fast-paced clinic and physician practice environment. MedLearn helps navigate the complex rules and regulations of CMS, the AMA and other regulatory agencies.
To make sure providers and clinic staff understand the necessary requirements
to support proper documentation and coding and billing accuracy, we conduct
one-on-one, hands-on, physician and staff training. We not only ensure that
any inaccuracies are immediately addressed and corrected, but also ensure
that the clinic can sustain compliance for the long term and as a result,
minimize risk exposure.
Client Benefits
- Appropriately capture revenue
- Identify and minimize risk
- Minimize exposure
- Achieve an ongoing accuracy rate of 90-97%
MedLearn Approach and Objectives
MedLearn understands the importance of proper physician documentation
and staff coding and billing and the impact they both can have on clinic
risk exposure.
In an E & M Review:
- MedLearn typically performs an assessment on a sampling of 10-20 records
per physician comparing their documentation of a patient visit to the visit
bill
- Then we thoroughly evaluate the bill to ensure it properly links to the
claim
In an Operational Assessment, we typically analyze patient encounters -- from registration through remittance -- looking for anything that stands out as inefficient. To ensure minimum risk exposure, often an Operational Assessment leads to an E & M Review or vice versa.
To maintain long term success, MedLearn conducts ongoing assessments to
measure the coding accuracy rate at six month intervals following an engagement.
And we remain available for online and telephonic consultative support after
an engagement is completed.
